Breaking: Abia State Governor Imposes 12 Hours Curfew

The Abia State governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has announced a 6pm to 6am curfew in the state, effective from Sunday, 26 April.

This was disclosed on the Facebook page of the Abia State Ministry of Information.

According to the governor, the directive was geared towards ensuring successful contact tracing related to the two index covid-19 cases in the state as well as ensure enforcement of the subsisting lockdown in the state.

The governor also urged all local government transition council chairmen to comply with the curfew within their respective areas or face suspension from office.

He also directed security agents to take violators of the order to the mobile courts for prosecution.

The governor urged residents to be patient with the Lockdown directive and keep complying the public health advisory as the states works towards warding off the pandemic.
