Gov Ganduje Confirms 74 New Cases Of Coronavirus In Kano

The Kano State Government has confirmed 74 new cases of coronavirus in the state.

Governor Umar Ganduje made this known on Saturday.

Speaking at a press briefing,, Ganduje said out of 489 samples, 74 tested positive

“We’ve taken samples of 489 people, out of these number 74 were confirmed positive for the virus,” Daily Independent quoted him as saying.

Uzodimma Imposes Dusk to Dawn Curfew in Imo

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew in the State in a fresh move to check the ravaging coronavirus. He did on Friday in an Executive Order No 001, 2020, saying the State is now on total lockdown because of Covid-19. According to the Governor, the curfew starts from 6am till 6pm effective Saturday, April 18 “till further notice”. Governor Uzodimma said he has an obligation to preserve the lives of Imo people and was committed to the enforcement of the total lockdown of movement of persons. Consequently, all borders leading in and out of the state are shut till further notice. Also, Imo indigenes returning from outside the state shall be made admitted on the condition proper identification and on condition that they subject themselves to test of the Covid-19 and are quarantined for 14 days before entering into the state. Ehanire: No private hospital has been accredited to treat COVID-19 patients

Giving an update on the efforts of the presidential task force on COVID-19 on Friday, Osagie Ehanire, minister of health, said although some private hospitals have indicated interest to handle COVID-19 cases, none has met the criteria. “There is a large hospital in Lagos that has called me saying they want to become a coronavirus treatment centre,” he said. “The structure of the hospital is such that they are ready to remove all the present patients they have and do nothing but coronavirus, so they don’t stand the risk of cross infection. “If as a private person, you want to run a treatment centre, you have to show that you have the staff; a doctor who must be an infectious disease specialist, nurses and even cleaners who are trained, because handling of such hospitals is different from handling ordinary hospitals.” He added that such hospitals would have to undergo “inspection by a team which would give the go-ahead to do so”. “There is no hospital that has me...
